ÖkoProfit 2013

Workshop No. 6 at KIMA
Managing Director and ÖkoProfit-participant Alfred Klein welcomed around 30 guests and guest speakers to the 6th workshop at the premises in Gronau-Epe.

The event`s main topic was "purchasing and environmental controlling". KIMA contributed an article about cost savings with energy controlling.

Practical approaches to logging, archiving, preparation, and reporting of energy data were presented. KIMA`s own building technology was described as a case study of how to avoid expensive peak loads.

The city of Munich initiated the project in cooperation with the chamber of industry and commerce and the chamber of crafts. Along with 15 other companies measures to reduce waste and emmissions are developed. The companies are councelled and supervised in workshops and on-site consultations by external consultants for a year.
Upon successful completion of the project, our company receives an award.
The idea for the project originates in the city of Graz. There, and in Munich for the last 5 years, the project has led to significant savings for the companies.

What are the benefits?
By participating we want to improve our environmental protection and occupational safety, increase efficiency when using raw materials and energy and thereby save money.
Upon receiving the environmental label after the end of the year we will be able to improve our environmental commitment.

What do we want to do?
The most important tasks are:

  • Evaluation of the most important material and energy flows in the company regarding quantity and costs

  • Development of an environmental program for the reduction of waste and emissions

  • Ensure regulatory compliance and improve the handling of hazardous materials

  • Organizational implementation of environmental care through the establishment of responsibilities, environmental guidelines and targets

How can the individual contribute?
Every individual can help with ideas for improvement but can also contribute to the success of this project by "everyday" actions.
